Adwords is a paid way to get to the top of the Search Engines
within 1
hour. Though you actually pay for it, unlike natural or organic search
results, it can
be an effective way of getting cheap
web site traffic with good return on investment
so long as you know what you are doing.
Under the heading 'Sponsored links', Adwords
are the ads displayed above and to
the right of organic search results. Organic search results on the other
hand, are the
main results featuring websites that have achieved their search engine
position
naturally through good SEO (Search Engine Optimisation).
Thus, Adwords also known as pay-per-click advertising is the quick and easy way of showing up at the top of Google search results once you are willing to pay.
However, the good thing is that your cost will be based on the performance of your ad so that you only pay when people click on your advert. You agree upfront how much you are willing to pay for each click on your advert for particular keywords you are targetting. This is known as bidding for keywords, which is a vital part of any successful Google Adwords campaign.

Once you find these then you will need to check how competitive these keywords are since the more competitive they are the more you will have to pay in order to have any chance of your ad showing up when people search by those keywords.

So how do you work out how much you
should pay for any keyword
to enable you break even?
The first thing to do is to find out how much each customer to your site
is worth to
you. For example, if you know you can make an average profit of $35.00
per sale
then that amount is the value of each customer to your site. This in turn
means that
this is the amount you are prepared to pay to get one customer.
To
ensure you don't pay more than this amount before making a sale, you need
to first determine what the conversion rate of that product is. Conversion
is basically the percentage of people who buy the product after visiting
the sales page.
At 1% conversion rate, your bid should be $0.35 for a product that pays you $35.00 commission per sale. This is because if you bid $0.35 per click (1% of $35.00), by the time you spend $35.00, you will have made back $35.00 since at least 1% of those who click on your add will buy your product. Therefore $0.35 is your breakeven bid price that you should not go beyond.
Using this formular, you can always work out your maximum bid price for
any
product you wish to advertise for and this will always vary depending
on your
commission per sale and the conversion rate of that product. If you are
promoting
an affiliate product, the product vendor will advise you of the expected
conversion
rate of their product landing page.
Once you have chosen the right keywords
and placed your bids on them, you will
now ensure your ads contain only keywords you are targetting in order
to attract
only those visitors most likely to be interested in what you have to offer.
Landing Page Optimisation and Conversion Tracking.
Significantly, your task is not complete until you have prepared a page
on your site
(known as landing page) to receive those who click on your ad so that
they may be
converted to paying customers; which is what it's all about.
Think of your landing page as your shop display and sales assistant that
combine
to close the deal. The targetted keywords

address that enable people find you; your carefully worded and keyword
rich
advert is the shop window that brings people in.
Lastly, conversion tracking is the internal audit or survey that you
will regularly
perform to see what is not working out of any the above (keyword targetting,
ad
copy, landing page conversion) so you can either improve on them or change
them.
